What this Virus Does to micro Soft Windows pc's:
Quoted From CNET.com Stories:....
"We've seen this at least once before, where virus has a dynamic component,"
he said, "That gives it the capability of changing its behavior in the
future. It could have been changed to remove files, make it look for credit
cards, or install a network sniffer."
In an analysis provided by Security Focus, Levy explained that the I
Love You virus replicates in three different ways:through
email attachments, Internet Relay Chat file transfers, and through shared
drives on a computer network.
Once the virus has found its way in, it writes itself into three
different locations: two under the Windows directory, one under the
system directory.
Then it modifies the computer's registry keys, which normally
contain configuration information that tells the computer what programs
to launch on start-up. The worm modifies the registry so that it
starts running when the computer is restarted.
In a step now rendered impotent, the worm modifies the registry key
that determines the start page for Microsoftís Internet Explorer browser,
pointing to one of four Web pages hosted by Sky Internet.
Those four pages linked to an executable called "win-bugsfix.exe." Virus
code made the executable run.
The executable then looked up the computer's dial-up connection passwords,
and mailed them to an email address in the Philippines.
Next, the executable created an HTML file on the computer's hard drive
to
infect other computers connected on IRC. Giving it great and speedy
virulence, it next spread to everyone listed in the victim's Windows
address book.
In one of the most malicious aspects of the virus, it then went on
to overwrite various music and graphics files and rename them .vbs
files.

**UPDATE**: Eight variants have been discovered as of 8:30
am, 5/5/00.
Some analysts said the "I Love You" attack points to serious flaws
in Microsoft code. They noted that the virus takes advantage of well-known
exploits involving Visual Basic script files, which end in the extension
".vbs." Visual Basic is a high-level programming language developed by
Microsoft that is graphically oriented.
Michael Zboray, chief technology officer for market researcher Gartner
Group, harshly criticized Microsoft for releasing a programming language
with the "wrong security posture" to businesses and the public.
ZDnet:
The Love Bug is the most serious computer virus to date, but
experts
expect more, and perhaps even more lethal bugs. Such a virus could
be created easily, they added.
"A 15-year-old person could have written this virus, by taking an old
virus and using it as a template," Hypponen said.
"It is becoming increasingly easy because more and more documentation
and more pople know the scripting language of software, so it is easier
to develop and write macro viruses. Anti-virus experts said another factor
behind the success of the "Love Bug" was that it works on the world's most
widely used operating system -- Windows 98, another product of Microsoft.
"The virus only works on Microsoft because it was programmed that
way," Hypponen said. "The functionality in Windows is not secure and
this makes it more vulnerable to viruses."
Users of the Unix programming language or the Apple Computer Corp.'s
<AAPL.O> software were not likely to be at risk.
While most personal computer users globally employ the Microsoft Windows
operating system, not all use its e-mail and Internet software, limiting
the risks to those only using Micro Soft Windows system....

What this virus does to a Mac Computer:
NOTHING

The Mac is The Eagle of the Computer
Industry .!!
Flying HIGH above the Computer Marketplace,
watching all the pc pigeons Scrambling to keep their weakling computers
running....
Remember - ALL other comptuers simply try to ACT Like a Mac..
The pc computers operates a "windows" program..
ALL the windowing in a pc is a mere fragemant of the True operating
Power it copied from the Mac
FACT:
There have been over 20,000 Viruses on micro Soft

There have been less than 50 viruses on Mac Computers..
(And only 1 did damage, the rest merely opened a window and said
HA HA and did nothing to the computer).

Mac Challenge and Results Statement
NOW, Let's Refer to the Bible, the Ultimate Reference and User Manual
of Mankind.....
{Amplified} Mat 7: 13-20
Perfectly Describes the computer situation of the world......
"Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is
the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to
destruction, and many are those who are entering
through it.
But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure)
and the way is straightened and compressed that leads away to life, and

NOW, With application
to the computer situation of the world......
"Enter by the narrow gate:
For wide is the gate and spacious and broad
is the way of the many using microsoft windows
that leads to computer virus, crashing &
destruction,
and many
are those who are using it.
But the gate is narrow (contracted by pc user
pressure and stereotyped) and the operational way of the Macintosh System,
Linux (and Netscape) is straight and by conscientious design pressed free
that leads away to stable computer operation and online life,
and few are those who find it."
It goes on to say...
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you
dressed as sheep,
but inside they are devouring wolves.
You will fully recognize them
by their fruits.
Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs
from thistles?
Even so, every healthy (sound)
tree bears good fruit [worthy of admiration],
but the sickly (decaying,
worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit.
A good (heatlty) tree cannot
bear bad (worthless) fruit,
nor can a bad (diseaesed) tree
bear excellent fruit [worthy of admiration].
Every tree that does not bear
good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
**Therefore, you will fully
know them by their fruits"**
{Amplified} James 1:17
"Every good gift
and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above;
it comes down from the Father
of all [that gives] light,
in [the shining of] Whom there
can be NO variation [rising or setting], or shadow cast by his turning
[as in an eclipse].."
Which of these computers is the good and perfect Gift
??
JUDGING FROM THE FACTS AND COMPARISON ABOVE,
IT WOULD HAVE TO BE THE MAC, WITHOUT QUESTION.
AND which computer is the False Copy of the other, which is riddled
with virus corruption and is a poor fruit that quickly withers and becomes
obsolete and bloated, and is rendered Useless, and is replaced over and
over, again and again, with yet another model of the same, which is touted
to be so much better, but yet which is soon just as lame and corruptable.....
JUDGING FROM THE FACTS AND THE COMPARISON ABOVE,
IT WOULD HAVE TO BE THE MICRO SO SOFT WINDOWS PC, WITHOUT QUESTION..
The micro SoftWindows cost the governments over 600 Billion Dollars
in Y2K preparations, which were no problems and all that money was wasted...
This Virus did more costly damage in ONE DAY than ALL the Y2K predicted
baloney from the doomsayers and computer predictions for shutdown...
http://www.zdnet.com/anchordesk/story/story_3505.html
Too
confusing for customers. Win98? WinNT? Win2000? Customers have been
in this same dilemma for five years.
Microsoft
has spent many years and many millions of dollars... and left us just as
stuck as we were before.
That's
why I hereby declare Win2000 a failure. Does it have lots of great new
features? Absolutely.
Is it
an improvement over the previous version? Of course. Should you move to
Win2000 if you already own NT? Yes, without question.
But does
it achieve Microsoft's original goals? Is it best of breed in any one area?
Is
it the dominant operating system of the future?
To
those
questions, I
say no.
